A Light in the Midst of Hope (希望の中の光 Kibō no naka no hikari?) is the eleventh episode of the The Detective Is Already Dead TV anime adaptation.
Synopsis[]
カメレオンと対峙する君塚。なんとか夏凪を助け出したものの、依然としてその猛攻は続いていた。シャルの加勢を得て一旦は敵を追い詰めたかに思えたが、カメレオンの一撃が甲板を砕き、君塚は下の階層へと落下してしまう。朦朧とする意識の中、シエスタと死別した日の記憶が蘇り……。
The standoff between Kimihiko and Chameleon continued.
Even though they managed to save Natsunagi somehow, Chameleon 's fierce attacks remained the same. Kimizuka got Charl's support and almost cornered the enemy, but Chameleon's attack pierced the deck, and Kimizuka ended up falling into the floor below it.
In his hazy consciousness, he recalled the day when he was separated with Siesta by death...Summary[]
Kimihiko fires his gun at Chameleon's tail freeing Nagisa from his grasp and making her fall into the ocean below. Driving a motorboat, Yui manages to safely catch Nagisa with a soft mattress on the boat's front. Aggravated that he's lost his leverage in the situation, Chameleon transforms into his beast form vowing to not hold back any longer.
A flashback showing Kimihiko enjoys some tea with Siesta and chatting about what being a detective means to her. Back in the present, Kimihiko fires off his gun against Chameleon who deflects the bullets with his tail and uses it to knock him down. Just then, Char arrives on a helicopter piloted by Fubi and fires off an SMG at Chameleon. When she's done with that gun, she pulls out a mini-gun. Agitated by the turn of events, Chameleon uses his tail to pierce the hull of the helicopter causing it to leak its gasoline into the bow of the ship and disappears. Using her lighter, Fubi throws it onto the ship, igniting the gasoline, and a charred Chameleon reveals himself. Taking advantage of the situation, Char fires an anti-tank rifle at the beast blasting off its tail and Kimihiko uses it to jam lock Chameleon's mouth shut. Regrowing his tail, Chameleon smashes the floor beneath them causing them to fall down the floor below them.
Another flashback plays involving Kimihiko's last encounter with Hel, it shows Siesta temporarily possessing the body of Hel and delivers one last message to him. Back in the present again, Kimihiko and Chameleon were going to fight against each other, but they're stopped midway when Nagisa fires her gun at the beast. As it turns out, Nagisa was being possessed by Siesta now.
